Co-owners Bob and Taraysa Lees are passionate about signage. So much so that they’ve been in the business of helping to efficiently and cost effectively promote businesses for more than 15 years.

In December, the Lees brought that passion from Portland, Oregon, to Rio Rancho and opened Zia Signs, a one-stop shop that helps business owners with every aspect of their signage needs, in March.

"We joined together and kind of combined our efforts and came home to family to try to start a business here in Rio Rancho, and it's been great so far," Taraysa Lees said. "We love it. The people have been so supportive."

Bob Lees said business was so good at the start they didn't have time for a grand opening.

Thursday, Zia Signs finally found the time and celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon-cutting event that was attended by Mayor Gregg Hull, Sandoval County Commissioners Dave Heil and Katherine Bruch, several ambassadors from the Rio Rancho Regional Chamber of Commerce, and friends and family.

"It's always an honor for us to come here and recognize the new business started right here in this space, and it's always great to see the continued investment in the city of Rio Rancho," Hull said. "Small businesses are really the lifeblood of any any community."

Zia Signs offers many services including fleet/vehicle graphics, banners, flags, signs, decals, machine embroidery and personalized gifts. The large office is located at the corner of NM 528 and Sundt.
